Good Guide helps consumers

...to make their choice when it comes to green, healthy and socially responsible products. Independent experts rate the performance of products in this regard.
You will already find a lot of products from various categories. But of course not all products you are interested in are included yet. Users may vote which product should be included in the near future and we think our Darjeeling Tea should be one of them. If you agree, please vote:

Our tea is inspiring! This piece of art was sent from one of our

Thank you very much!

EGCG-Content – 100 times better than we thought…

22. August 2011 von Kathrin Gassert
Some labels of our First Flush erroneously depict a too low EGCG content... that we unfortunately just noticed after printing the labels. The value of EGCG in mg/g has to be multiplied with 100! However, the declaration in percentage is correct.
As soon as we receive the corrected data by the laboratory we will include them in our traceability data base.

Interesting reading - A History of Darjeeling

What makes this book so special is that it was published in Bengali language in 1880. It was the first time that an author of Indian origin undertook the task to write a book on this region.

On almost 100 pages the reader learns about local tribes, flora, fauna and of course also about the prospering tea industry.
Completed with 25 historical photos this book was 2009 first published in English in 2009 at Pagoda Tree Press.

"Old-age provision" in Teagardens

19. July 2011 von Kathrin Gassert
Zwei Jahre alte Teepflanzen in Tumsong Teebushes can produce tea leaves for about 90 years. However, a sustainable yield can only be expected after approx. 5 years, so one has to provide newbushes in just time. India's Tea Board encourages replanting efforts and the North of India is ahead with an area of replanting of ca. 2%.

World Environment Day

14. June 2011 von Kathrin Gassert
On June 5th was World Environment Day - it was also celebrated at the tea garden Phoobsering in Darjeeling.  "Plant a tree, plant a hope" was the motto of the day that was planned within our project S.E.R.V.E.  160 participants (school children, volunters, workers from tea plantations and staff of  WWF) planted 5.000 tree saplings!

Situation in Japan

28. March 2011 von Kathrin Gassert
Concerned customers as well as we ourselves ask if Darjeeling tea is in danger of getting contaminated by radioactivity. Even though at this point one can only speculate on the effects of the Japanese nuclear catastrophy, for Darjeeling there seems to be an all-clear. Darjeeling is situated in the norheast of India, sheltered by the Himalayas and 5.000 km away from Japan.
As always we will analyse our teas for residues of pesticides. Furthermore for the harvest of 2011 we will spot-check samples for radioactive substances. Of course we will share the results with you. You will find them on our internet site under "Traceability".

Since 1993 this day is celebrated around the world. It is organised by UN-Water and all member countries are invited to put water into the focus of their activities.
Water is victual no. 1.  71% of our planet is covered by water, but one billion people have no access to safe and clean drinking water.
In 2011 the theme for the World Water Day is "Water for Cities - Responding to the Urban Challenge".  more...
